the legends z-a shiny eevee hunt

i'm gonna warn you now, this is gonna be a bit long and all over the place. it's also gonna have a decent amount of pictures. apologies if they dont load correctly! hopefully it all works out haha. anyway,

what started as a hunt for a shiny ralts turned into a month-long hunt for 9 shiny eevees. you see, i completed the main campaign of legends z-a with an alpha gardevoir on my team that i grew fairly attached to. i liked that she was a long-range attacker and ended up using her in some of my first online matches. some of the people i faced were using shiny pokemon and, to be honest, i was a little jealous lmao. since i was now done with the story and waiting for the dlc, i figured it was a good time to start shiny hunting myself.

because i'm lazy, i decided to do some afk bench resets while i was at work. on 11/08/25 (november 8th. sorry for being american) i encountered not the shiny ralts i was looking for, but rather a shiny little foxcat creature thing.

i was really excited about this eevee, and sent my friends on discord a message about him that included a silly little typo

that typo ended up becoming his nickname. my beloved little Wevee. because of the name, i initially wanted to keep him as an eevee. at this point, i also had no intention of hunting for enough eevee to complete the line. i had no need to, really, because i already completed this same hunt earlier this year across several other games.

i used Wevee for farming mega shards during the day, and battling in the z-a royale with my gardevoir at night. eventually, our friendship maxed out and Wevee wanted to evolve. I was a little torn between sylveon and umbreon, but in the end i chose...

Wevee has been on my team since i first caught him, and i adore him. i even changed my character's hair color to match LOL. still, i couldn't help but be surprised that i caught a shiny eevee before a shiny ralts, who had TWO chances to spawn between my chosen bench and the eevee spawn. in fact, i caught TWO MORE shiny eevee before i finally got the ralts i was looking for on 11/11/25

i thought i was satisfied, and i was for a day or two. i trained up the ralts into gardevoir and used her in some online battles. but honestly.... something was just. off. i missed how fuck-off large my alpha gardevoir was.

so... i decided i would hunt for a shiny alpha (or shalpha, as the kids call it) ralts. i wasn't sure how long this would take me, and i already had 3 shiny eevee by this point. so, it was around this time that i decided that i would also hunt for all 9 shiny eevee i needed to complete the line. after all, i was already a third of the way done.

on 11/15/25, i caught my fourth shiny eevee. and then the next day, i caught my fifth. AS WELL AS....

i named her Opal. which, i don't normally nickname my pokemon, shiny or not. Opal and Wevee are the exceptions, in this case. lmao.

i had already made it this far into hunting for shiny eevee, so i decided to keep going. after all, why not? i had gotten 5 of them in the span of just over a week, how long could it take me? my good luck continued, and i caught my 6th shiny eevee on 11/19/25, and my 7th three days later.

and then the eevee drought hit.

what i haven't talked about yet. is the amount of phases i went through to get these eevee.

after i caught my first shiny ralts, more kept popping up. sometimes, two shiny ralts would even be present at once. i also kept finding a horrific amount of shiny weedle. shiny fletchling get an honorable mention, too.

luckily, if i was going to phase, i had several benches to choose from that would impact which pokemon i was phasing with. for example, one bench would allow for buneary, bunnelby, and the elemental monkies to spawn as shiny. however, a different bench would allow for emolga to be shiny. i figured this would be a good way to complete some shiny dex entries i didn't have while i continued my eevee hunt.

on 11/30/25, my phase luck was through the roof and i encountered this absolute beast

some people only dream of having a shalpha hawlucha, but its my reality and it was a damn phase LMFAO. i do consider myself very lucky for this pull. however, my eevee luck was doing terribly. it had been over a week since i had encountered my last shiny eevee, and there was no end in sight. i just needed two more shiny eevee. cmon man just TWO MORE...

i finally caught my 8th shiny eevee on 12/05/25. i thought i was so close to being done. i reorganized my boxes to prepare for my final eevee and realized i had phased over 100 times. i had so many ralts and weedle. still, i remained hopeful about my hunt nearing its end.

it was around this time that i realized i could bench reset the absol on top of a nearby building, so i decided to see whether a shiny eevee or absol would show up first.

the answer... was absol.

this lass was encountered on 12/08/25 and promptly added to my party. her name is Mold, because the sounds that absol make remind me of my cat (whose nickname is mold).

but she wasn't the only absol i encountered. no, not even the only shalpha either. in total, i accumulated 3 shalpha and 4 normal shiny absol.

and still i phased. i kept phasing.

until finally, on 12/15/25, i came home and found that the final shiny eevee i needed has spawned in while afk benching. finally, my hunt was over.

including the ralts that i was initially hunting and all of her phases, i ended up with 163 shiny pokemon from this hunt alone.

i posted on a shiny group on tumblr looking to get rid of some of my phases, and was able to get rid of a handful. besides the ones i kept, all but one of my shalphas have been adopted.

in conclusion, i love the eeveelutions, and i am drowning in shiny ralts.
